Entrepreneurs are the life-blood of a successful economy. Today's students need to graduate not just with an academic qualification but also with creative and problem-solving skills, which combine to produce the much talked about 'can-do' attitude found in successful entrepreneurs. Learning from real-life entrepreneurs is possibly the best type of educational experience that we can offer our students.
The case studies in this book are based on past finalists of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. They highlight the entrepreneurial pathways and strategies of successful entrepreneurs on the island of Ireland, and demonstrate the sorts of challenges that entrepreneurs face in their efforts to create new ventures or take over existing ones. Building on the success of the Ernst & Young Learning DVD, this book contains a total of nine cases, which collectively provide students and teachers of entrepreneurship with an important resource for exploring the entrepreneurial process. The cases cover a range of industry sectors, which adopt different approaches to describing business scenarios, and highlight a variety of entrepreneurial themes suitable for individual study, in-class discussion or lively debate.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Case Series provides real insights into the new venture creation and management process, and is a valuable resource for both teachers and students of entrepreneurship.
